About Yashad Bhasma

Yashad Bhasma is an ayurvedic mineral-based and immuno-modulatory medicine. It is also ayurvedic zinc supplement in used in zinc deficiency, slow wound healing, stunted growth and diarrhea in children.

Yashad  Bhasma boosts the immune system and may help treating recurrent common cold and ear infections. It also prevents respiratory infections. In ayurveda, it is used for malaria and other parasitic diseases.

Along with ayurvedic eye drops, yashada Bhasma is beneficial for macular degeneration, night blindness and cataract. It may also help in cases of asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes and AIDS. It is also used in skin diseases especially acne, eczema and psoriasis.

Medicinal Uses & Benefits of Yashad Bhasma

Yashad Bhasma is useful in the treatment of diseases related to zinc deficiency, throat, eyes, respiratory system, heart, blood and digestive system. It also works well in diabetes mellitus and men’s problems.

Yashad Bhasma is useful in all types of fever and infections due to its immuno-modulatory effects. It improves immune system and helps the body fighting off the disease.

Common cold

Yashad Bhasma contains zinc, which is already studied for its effects in preventing and reducing severity of common cold symptoms. Thus, yashad bhasma reduces common cold symptoms.

It should be taken within 24 hours onset of symptoms of common cold to reduce duration of infection or severity of symptoms. Zinc supplement also decrease common cold incidences in children.

Therefore, we can also use Yashad Bhasma as Prophylactic therapy for children suffering from recurrent common cold or seasonal flu. Mixing Jasad bhasma with Sitopaladi churna can improve the immune system against almost all types of viral infections

Sore throat & Tonsillitis

A number of bacteria and viruses can cause sore throat and inflammation of tonsils. Yashad bhasma is used when throat is red, inflamed and painful. However, it might not be effective when white crust or layer is visible instead of red and inflamed area. It is used along with sitopaladi churna, praval pisthi and tulsi.

Ayurvedic treatment for burning mouth syndrome

Burning mouth syndrome occurs due to deficiency of zinc. The most common symptoms of this disease are burning sensation in the mouth, increase thirst, dry mouth, metallic or bitter taste and loss of taste. Yashad Bhasma can reduce all these symptoms and help curing burning mouth syndrome.

Stomach ulcer, ulcerative colitis & Crohn’s disease

Zinc supplements have healing effects in gastric ulcer, peptic ulcer, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. It speeds up healing process of ulcer and reduces inflammation in these diseases.

In ayurveda, Yashad bhasma is commonly used for these diseases. However, it may not be effective alone. It is used with Licorice, vanshlochan and Giloy Satva.

Diabetes

People with diabetes may have lower serum zinc concentration. Zinc supplement improves glycemic control and decrease HbA1c percentage.

Dosage of Yashad Bhasma

The dosage of Yashad Bhasma is 15 mg to 250 mg. The maximum dosage of Yashad Bhasma is 500 mg per day.

The safest dosage is about 40 mg per day. According to our experience, Yashad bhasma works well with the dosage of 20 mg twice a day even in sore throat and other infections. Therefore, there may not be need to increase its dosage from this safe line.

In some cases, your doctor may increase its dosage, but it should not be continued for a longer period or more than a week.

For diabetes, 10 mg to 20 mg per day is sufficient dosage to preserve the functions of pancreas.

Side effects of Yashad Bhasma

  • This medicine should only be taken under strict medical supervision.
  • Self medication with this medicine may prove to be dangerous.
  • Over-dosage may cause severe side effects.
  • Take this medicine in precise dose and for limited period of time, as advised by doctor.
